Voting Members
Eligible companies must be engaged in the home energy rating industry, including but not limited to energy auditors, HVAC contractors, insulation contractors, and home improvement contractors. Defining features include, but are not limited to:
- Performing tests / inspections for energy code compliance, home energy audits, and home energy ratings
- Performing software modeling and analysis for energy code compliance, home energy audits, and home energy ratings
- Performing verification / compliance tasks for above-code programs (ex. ENERGY STAR® Single-Family New Homes)

Non-voting Associate Members
Company Associate Members are non-voting member companies that are not directly engaged in the home energy rating process. These range from HVAC contractors that perform design and installation services, to equipment manufacturers that equip the home energy rating industry. They also include individuals who want to join separately from their company.
While individual members are not eligible to vote in Board of Directors elections, they are able to participate in the growth and development of the Home Energy Rating Systems Council.
